Alida Vracic


Alida Vracic has been the Director and a Co-Founder of Populari, a think tank based in Sarajevo, since 2007. Prior to founding Populari, Alida worked with the European Stability Initiative, a think tank based in Berlin, on projects related to judicial and economic issues. She has also led several Balkan-wide projects at the Human Rights Centre at Sarajevo University and at the Spanish Institutional Programme-program for institutional co-operation of judicial nature with the ombudsmen, bar associations and associations of judges in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region. Alida has also worked for the State Court prosecutor’s team and at the Human Rights Commission within the Constitutional Court of Bosnia. She holds a M.Sc. in international public policy from the University College London, and a B.A. from the Law School at the University of Sarajevo, specializing in criminal law, human rights, and the Dayton Peace Agreement. Ms. Vracic has also studied criminal proceedings and the penal system in Austria and completed the Executive Education program of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Currently Alida is Merkator-IPC Fellow at Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik in Berlin and a Marshall Memorial Fellow (German Marshall Fund) for 2015.
